Balneario Solis is a small coastal town located in the department of Maldonado, in Uruguay. It was founded at the beginning of the 20th century as a rest area for the inhabitants of the city of Maldonado and Punta del Este.
The name of the resort comes from the nearby mouth of the Solís Grande River in the Atlantic Ocean, and it has a beautiful beach surrounded by dunes and native vegetation.
In the 1930s, Balneario Solis began to develop as a tourist destination, with the construction of houses and bungalows for tourists who came in search of tranquility and contact with nature.
During the 1970s and 1980s, Balneario Solis experienced a great tourist boom, becoming one of the most popular spas in the area, with the construction of new tourist complexes and the expansion of existing infrastructure.
Today, Balneario Solis remains a popular tourist destination, known for its beautiful beaches, its wild nature and the tranquility it offers to visitors. It is also an ideal place to practice water sports, such as surfing and windsurfing.
To get to Balneario Solis you can take the Interbalnearia route to the east from Montevideo, and then take the exit to Piriápolis, following route 10 until you reach the spa. Its location is privileged, as it is just a few kilometers from other popular resorts such as Piriápolis and Punta del Este, allowing visitors to easily explore the region.
